Waxed Trucker Jacket | Flint and Tinder
Our Waxed Trucker Jacket is built from 10oz American cotton canvas that's been treated with premium paraffin wax for wind and water resistance. We designed this jacket to be your go-to layer for unpredictable weather — the kind of piece that only gets better with wear.
The fabric starts stiff and weatherproof, then breaks in to conform to your body over months of use. Every scuff, crease, and fade tells the story of where you've been. We cut it in our classic trucker silhouette with a pointed collar, button-front closure, and adjustable side tabs at the waist for a custom fit.
This Flint and Tinder waxed jacket is sewn in our North Carolina facility using contrast stitching, reinforced stress points, and corrosion-resistant hardware. It's designed to handle years of hard wear, and we back it with our lifetime guarantee.

Waxed canvas construction

We start with 10-ounce cotton canvas woven in the United States, then apply a traditional paraffin wax treatment that bonds to the fibers. This creates a durable barrier against wind and moisture without sacrificing breathability.
The wax finish gives the jacket its signature weathered appearance and provides genuine weather protection. Light rain beads up and rolls off the surface. Wind can’t penetrate the tight weave. As you wear the jacket, the wax redistributes across high-friction areas, creating natural patina lines at elbows, shoulders, and pocket edges.
Sizing and fit

This jacket is cut in our regular fit — room to layer a flannel or sweater underneath without excess bulk. The trucker silhouette sits at the waist with a slightly cropped body length.
We recommend ordering your normal size for a true-to-size fit. The canvas starts stiff and will relax about half a size after the first few months of wear. If you plan to layer heavy knits underneath, consider sizing up one size.
Care and maintenance

The waxed finish requires minimal care. Spot clean dirt and stains with a damp cloth and cold water. Never machine wash or dry clean — heat and detergents will strip the wax coating.
For deep cleaning, use a brush with mild soap and cold water, then hang dry away from direct heat. The wax may lighten slightly when wet but will darken again as it dries.

Questions about the Waxed Trucker Jacket
The Waxed Trucker Jacket runs true to size in our regular fit. Order your normal size for room to layer a shirt or light sweater underneath. The canvas will relax about half a size after initial break-in.
If you plan to wear heavy knits underneath, we recommend sizing up one size. The adjustable side tabs provide 2 inches of waist adjustment for fine-tuning the fit.
Waxed canvas is water resistant, not fully waterproof. The paraffin wax treatment causes light to moderate rain to bead up and roll off the surface. You'll stay dry in drizzle and light showers.
In heavy, sustained rain, moisture will eventually penetrate the fabric. The jacket excels at blocking wind and handling typical outdoor conditions. For extreme wet weather, you'd want a fully waterproof rain shell.
The canvas starts stiff by design — this is what provides structure and weather resistance. Simply wear the jacket regularly and the fabric will soften naturally over 2-3 months.
Movement at shoulders, elbows, and waist causes the fibers to relax and conform to your body. The more you wear it, the faster it breaks in. Avoid trying to accelerate the process with washing or heat, as this can damage the wax coating.
No, never machine wash or dry clean waxed canvas. Heat and detergents strip away the protective wax coating and can shrink the cotton fabric.
Spot clean with a damp cloth and cold water for most stains. For deeper cleaning, use a soft brush with mild soap and cold water, then hang dry away from direct heat. Re-wax as needed to maintain water resistance.
With regular wear, the factory wax treatment lasts 12-18 months before you'll want to refresh it. High-friction areas like elbows and pocket edges may show lightening first.
Re-waxing is simple — apply canvas wax with a cloth, let it absorb in a warm room, and you're done. This restores the water resistance and darkens the color. Many customers re-wax annually to keep their jacket looking fresh.
The Waxed Trucker Jacket has a classic shorter body length that sits at the waist, with a button-front closure and pointed collar. It's our most versatile cut.
The Waxed Rancher Jacket is cut longer for more coverage, extending past the belt line. It uses snap closures instead of buttons and has a slightly roomier fit through the body. Both use the same 10oz American waxed canvas.
The Waxed Trucker Jacket is uninsulated — just the 10oz canvas shell. This makes it an excellent layering piece for three seasons. Wear it over a t-shirt in spring and fall, or over a hoodie or fleece in winter.
If you want built-in warmth, our Flannel-Lined Waxed Jacket features a quilted flannel interior for cold-weather wear.
