Flint and Tinder Jeans — Premium American-Made Denim

★★★★★4.8/5· thousands of reviews

We designed the 365 Stretch Selvedge Jeans for guys who want authentic selvedge denim without sacrificing mobility. Built from premium Japanese denim with just enough stretch, these jeans blend old-school construction with modern comfort.

Every pair is sewn in the USA at our partner factory in North Carolina, using methods that date back decades. The result is a jean that breaks in beautifully, holds its shape, and works from the job site to date night. We use genuine selvedge fabric with a clean white ID and classic red-line detail that shows at the cuff.

Premium Denim Crafted in America

Premium Denim Crafted in America

Every pair of Flint and Tinder jeans starts with carefully sourced fabric and ends with American hands guiding it through each stage of construction. We partner with mills that understand selvedge weaving and factories where craftspeople have spent decades perfecting garment construction.

Our selvedge jeans feature fabric woven on shuttle looms, creating the signature self-finished edge that prevents fraying and adds structural integrity. This traditional method produces tighter, more durable denim that develops character as you wear it. The Japanese mills we source from have refined their formulas over generations, balancing cotton quality, yarn tension, and weave density to create denim that softens without losing its backbone.

How Our Jeans Fit and Size

How Our Jeans Fit and Size

We design Flint and Tinder jeans with real body types in mind, not idealized fashion sketches. Our fits range from slim to athletic, each cut to flatter different builds while maintaining the clean lines that make great denim timeless.

Choosing Your Fit

The Slim Fit works for guys with leaner builds or anyone who prefers a contemporary silhouette that sits close to the leg. The 365 Stretch Selvedge offers a straight leg that’s neither skinny nor baggy, making it our most versatile option. Athletic Fit provides extra room where active guys need it most — through the seat and thigh — without looking oversized.

Breaking In and Caring for Selvedge Denim

Breaking In and Caring for Selvedge Denim

Raw selvedge denim requires a different approach than pre-washed jeans. We recommend wearing your new Flint and Tinder jeans for at least three to six months before the first wash. This break-in period allows the fabric to mold to your body and develop high-contrast fades in areas where you naturally crease and wear the denim.

When it’s time to wash, turn your jeans inside out and use cold water on a gentle cycle. Skip the fabric softener, which breaks down cotton fibers and reduces longevity. Hang to dry or tumble on low heat — high heat causes shrinkage and accelerates wear. Some customers prefer hand-washing in a bathtub for maximum control.

Finally found jeans that fit right
I’ve got bigger thighs from lifting and cycling, and most jeans either fit my waist and strangle my legs or fit my legs and gap at the waist. The Athletic Fit solved that problem completely. These actually fit like they were made for someone with my build.

Quality you can feel immediately
The difference between these and department store jeans is obvious the second you put them on. The fabric has weight and structure, the stitching is perfect, and nothing feels cheap or flimsy. Worth every penny.

Breaking in beautifully
I’m three months into wearing my selvedge jeans almost daily, and the fades are starting to show exactly where I move and crease. Can’t wait to see how these look after a year. The fabric is softening up while still feeling substantial.

Stretch makes all the difference
I was skeptical about stretch denim, but the 365 jeans feel like traditional selvedge with way more mobility. I can squat down to tie my shoes without feeling like the fabric is fighting me. Still have that authentic selvedge look too.

Made in USA matters
Knowing these were cut and sewn by skilled workers in North Carolina instead of a factory I’ll never see makes me feel good about my purchase. The quality backs up the price tag, and I’m supporting American jobs.

Best jeans I’ve owned
I’ve gone through probably 20 pairs of jeans from different brands over the past decade, and these are the first ones I actually want to repair rather than replace when they eventually wear out. The construction is just on another level.

Common Questions About Our Jeans

Yes, our jeans use vanity-free sizing that measures accurately. A tagged 32-inch waist measures 32 inches, not 33 or 34 like many fashion brands. We recommend measuring your best-fitting jeans and comparing to our size chart for the most accurate fit.

For raw selvedge styles, consider sizing up if you’re between sizes, as they may shrink up to half an inch in the waist after the first wash. Stretch denim styles maintain their size better through washing.

Most customers find that raw selvedge denim softens significantly within the first month of regular wear, though the fabric continues to mold and develop character for six months or more. The initial stiffness is part of the break-in process that creates personalized fading.

Wearing your jeans for a few hours each day during the first two weeks helps accelerate break-in. Focus on normal movement — walking, sitting, bending — and the fabric will naturally conform to your body. By three months, they should feel like they were custom-made for you.

Our stretch and performance jeans are machine washable using cold water and gentle cycle. Turn them inside out to preserve color and reduce wear on the outer fabric. Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry.

For raw selvedge styles, we recommend waiting three to six months before the first wash to allow proper fading to develop. When you do wash them, use cold water, turn inside out, and skip the dryer if possible. Hand-washing in a bathtub gives you maximum control and extends the life of the fabric.

Selvedge denim is woven on shuttle looms that create a self-finished edge, preventing fraying and creating a tighter, more durable fabric structure. This traditional method produces denim with a signature white ID line along the outseam that’s visible when you cuff your jeans.

The tighter weave of selvedge fabric means it develops unique wear patterns and fades based on your body and movement. Regular denim is typically woven on modern projectile looms, which are faster and cheaper but don’t create the same fabric density or fading characteristics that denim enthusiasts value.

Our Athletic Fit Performance Jeans are specifically designed for guys with developed quads, glutes, and thighs from lifting, cycling, or sports. They provide extra room through the seat and thigh without looking baggy, then taper from the knee down for a modern silhouette.

The 365 Stretch Selvedge in a straight fit also works well for athletic builds thanks to the 2% stretch content that provides mobility. If you prefer a closer fit and have flexibility in your thighs, the Slim Fit with stretch fabric can work, but we recommend checking our detailed thigh measurements in the size guide.

Our jeans cost more upfront because we manufacture them domestically using premium materials and construction methods designed for longevity rather than fast fashion turnover. Most customers find they last three to five times longer than mass-market jeans, making the cost per wear significantly lower.

You’re paying for selvedge fabric woven properly, reinforced stitching at stress points, hardware that won’t fail, and the ability to visit the factories where your jeans are made. If you value quality, durability, and supporting American manufacturing, the price reflects real value rather than markup.

Hang your jeans by the belt loops or fold them loosely over a hanger to maintain their shape. Avoid cramming them into drawers where fabric can crease permanently. Allow them to air out after wearing, especially if you’re extending time between washes.

For raw selvedge jeans, some customers prefer to hang them outside or in a well-ventilated area overnight to refresh them naturally. The cotton fibers release odors when exposed to air, reducing the need for frequent washing during the break-in period.
